The Atlas of Social Statistics which has just been released contains maps which provide profound insights into the characteristics and living conditions of the population of Malawi and how they vary across the country .Although a broad range of social statistics are considered in the Atlas ,the over-riding focus is poverty.The spatial pattern seen in the Atlas will provide insights regarding key geographic factors associated with poverty,thereby assisting in social and economic development and in the geographic targeting of poverty reduction programs.
