How to use this site

Display resolution

The pages in this site should display on most browsers using most resolutions. It has been tested using a minimum display resolution of 640x480 pixels with 256 colours, and many tables have been created with that in mind. However, the best results will be obtained using a resolution of 800x600 pixels with 16 bit colour.

Use of "frames"

The site has been prepared using "frames", which is a feature of most recent browser software such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4 and better. This allows us to minimise file sizes and to minimise download times. There are some formatting problems when using Netscape (any solutions welcome!).

Dowloading and viewing data

Data included in this site has been prepared to be easily transferred to other programs, using a combination of HTML, Microsoft Word and Excel (version 97/2000), and Adobe Acrobat (version 4 or later). The choice of which is used depends on the complexity of the data; simple data is normally converted to HTML, but more complex tables and reports are provided in the format in which they were prepared.

Data in HTML format may be "cut and pasted" from the site. For example, using Microsoft Internet Explorer, choose Edit -> Select All, then Edit -> Copy. This will place the displayed page in the clipboard of your computer. In your software program (such as Excel), then coose Edit -> Paste to import the table.

Data in other formats will require the appropriate software. However, for those without Microsoft Office, viewers for Word, Excel and Powerpoint may be downloaded from the Microsoft web site by clicking the following icons.
