The year on- year national inflation rate for July 2008 stands at 8.7 percent an increase of 0.2 percentage points on the month before. The urban and rural rates are 10.9 percent and 7.6 percent respectively.
National food inflation continuous to rise though at a slower pace registering 6.6 percent on the year before compared to last month’s 6.5 percent on the year before. Core inflation, which excludes food costs, has also risen by 0.3 percentage points on the month before to 11.0 percent owing mainly to staggered price effects due to the recent fuel price hike.
